It’s not uncommon for your air conditioner to settle over the years. Sometimes the grade wasn’t properly compacted or erosion has taken place. If the soil shifts beneath an air conditioner, it usually results in an un-level air conditioner. Not only is this unsightly, but it can place undue stress on the condenser fan motor. The condenser fan motor is the motor that rotates the fan on the top of the air conditioner. This fan removes heat from the coils surrounding the air conditioner. A condenser fan motor is designed to rotate a balanced, level fan. When the fan is out of balance the motor will struggle and will potentially fail prematurely. As a preventive measure, have your air conditioner leveled when this issue is present.
